I also decide to try imitating this photograph of Simon Winnall's in my own way as i found it very inspirational. I like how the parts coming off of the sofa, his hands head and feet are not camouflaged in with the it and also how you can still see the outline of his body. I started my covering my sofa in a patterned rug as the rug was black and white i got my model to wear all black with just his feet hands and head showing. The clothes he wore were also tight fitted so i could see his body shape though them. I got my model to lay on the sofa in the same poses as the model in Winnalls photograph and i also tried out a different one. I tried some shots with magazines and things on the floor like in Winnals photo. I tried to take my photographs from different angles, front above below and face on with the sofa. Here are some on my shots below.
I used strong lighting when taking this shots as it improves the images i also took a photograph of the sofa on its own and the pattern to help me camouflage him in with the sofa. I decide the best way to be able to do it was by cutting out his clothes but leaving a thin line of it in some areas to create shadow and outline of his body and then laying the image onto the one of the sofa on its own.Photoshop
This photograph was the one i decided to use, i started my upping the brightness and contrast of the image to make the sofa stand out more. Next i used the lasso tool to cut his clothes out leaving a thin line of the black clothing in some areas to show the outline of his body and create shadows like on Winnalls photograph. This will stopping my model from looking flat. After doing these things it looked like the photo below on the left.
Next i used the lasso tool to cut out the back panel of the sofa behind him then copy it as another layer. I placed it on top edged the brightness and contrast making it a little darker so you could see the outline of his body on the sofa a little stronger. I then flatted the images so was all in one layer as it was getting confusing with all the layers. I then added a new blank layer and with the spray can sprayed on line of grey in areas around his body to create the shadow. They looked a little to dark so i changed the opacity to fade them in a bit. My final photography is below i am very pleased with it and think it worked very well.
