Simon winnall is one of the first photographers i looked at to start of my personal investigation. He is an advertising photographer, specialising in lifestyle and conceptual work. I found that some of his work reminded me of my theme of camouflage. The photograph to the left is the most obvious sort using the army style print that people see to be camouflage. I think it works really well but it is very simple and obvious i like some of his other pieces a lot more.
Such as the photograph below of the men led on the sofa, i like how some part of him that are hanging off of the sofa are not made to be disguised into pair of the sofa and are left as normal it make it look as if he is just head, hands and feet. Strong lighting has been used for this photograph and a high brightness and contrast, to create shadows so that you can still see the shape of his body on the sofa. The photograph below is an even less obvious form of camouflage, i think it shows how ever day she had to put a mask of make- up on a camouflage of the way she really looks to fit in with society today as girls often feel they have to wear make-up to fit in / look beautiful. It shows her pealing of the mask of this and being her natural self. I think this is a really interesting area of camouflage. I am going to try work in the style of winnall but adding my own touch.
